Hello!
Thanks for joining my second 'Travel Tuesday' post! I almost didn't have a post for this week - which would have been outrageously idiotic for me, so today's post is a relatively short one, but also one which I feel may be of interest to a bunch of you.
I'm sure that you're already aware (if you follow me on social media) that at the start of next year, I'm planning on going travelling, ideally for as long a term as I can, and because of this, I thought it might be nice to update you all a bit on my planning throughout all of this, for my Excellent Adventure of a life time. I even think "Gailypi's Excellent Adventure" is an appropriate little #hashtag for using on Instagram while I go travelling, and as a label on my blog for this series. And of couse I'd love for you all to join in with me on this, and get engaged throughout the whole process; from planning, to organising, to booking, to flying out and coming back home again. I'd appreciate and listen to all of your suggestions to me!
So, how far through the planning process am I right now?
Truthfully...... Not very. I'm trying to work my ass off over the coming months in order to have the money to spend while I'm away - on accommodation, or on flights, souvenirs, and on generally living - food and water. I'm planning on opening a savings account when I'm back in my home town on Thursday in order to have a seperate account to save in, and not be as tempted to spend my money all at once! It's so difficult trying to save when my money is in one account, but I am really trying.
On accommodation, however, I think I am closer to an idea of what I want to do. I'm planning my travels to be across Europe and to also incoroprate in Hawaii. I can travel about Europe pretty cheaply just using coach services instead of flights, where possible, but Hawaii is going to be expensive AF, not to mention what the accommodation is going to set me back with.
However, I'm part of a Facebook group called Scottish Bloggers, and from there I spotted a post about Couchsurfing. To be fair, Lucy had also told me about her friend doing this, and I kinda passed it off as something that wasn't for me. I hadn't realised there was a website that was available, and set up for the sole purpose of safe couchsurfing, and the more I read about it, the more I felt that it was something that really spoke to me. It would be a fantastic way to meet people around the globe, and to really feel like a local. So, I made an account, and look forward to beginning my plans later on once I know what I'm going to do!
That's about it for today's post, how do you feel about the idea of me updating you as I plan things out? Let me know!
Until next time, be excellent to each other.
